Call for Abstracts

Abstract Submission for the 2018 Childhood Trauma Conference has now closed

The abstracts can be research, practice or policy focussed. Accepted abstracts will be presented in thematic sessions on Wednesday, 1 August 2018.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstracts must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday, 21 February 2018 (Australian Eastern Summer Time).
  • The abstract word limit is 250 words not including abstract title, authors or institute.
  • Please ensure your abstract is prepared in accordance with the abstract instructions
  • Authors are allowed to submit and present one abstract only
  • Each accepted abstract will be allocated 30 minutes only. No extensions on presentation time will be provided
  • Abstract notifications will be sent by mid-March 2018. It is a mandatory requirement of the Conference that all presenting authors are registered to attend the Conference.

  • Working with traumatised children
  • Working with traumatised young people
  • Working with traumatised adults
  • Trauma informed practice in supporting families
  • Trauma informed therapeutic foster care
  • Trauma informed therapeutic residential care
  • Trauma informed practice in schools
  • Trauma informed approaches to kinship care
  • Trauma informed practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and  families
  • Trauma informed practice in youth justice

A selection of abstracts from the Conference will be published in a special edition of Children Australia in 2018-19. Please indicate during the submission process if you wish to have your abstract considered for inclusion in the special edition. If your paper is chosen for consideration in this edition, you will be required to submit your completed paper (in accordance with the Children Australia submission guidelines) for review. Further information about this will be provided to those who indicate their interest.
